Lit Fest 4

Submission Guidelines
Interested participants are invited to submit a digital text of their previously
unpublished work. Works will be reviewed by members of the Winters
Theatre Company. Invitations will be emailed to selected writers/poets. Send your digital works to janene.whitesell@gmail.com using a plain text file format (no stylized fonts or backgrounds). We can accept the following file formats: .txt docx .pdf

Please include the following information with your entry:
1. Name, Email address, Mailing address, Phone number
2. Title(s) of works
3. Genre (poetry or prose)
4. Your website/Instagram info (if applicable)

Please indicate your answers to these two questions in your entry:
1. Are you the sole owner of this work and can the work be performed
in a public venue? yes/no
2. Can a recording of this work in part or in whole be used for publicity
purposes? yes/no

Definitions:
Poetry: Original work by the poet in which special intensity is given to
the expression of feelings and ideas using distinctive style and rhythm.
All forms of poetry are encouraged. Poets may enter multiple poems
for consideration. Performance time limit: up to 4 minutes.

Stories: A short story, personal or fictionalized history, or monologue written by the performer. The original work may be either fiction or nonfiction. Works may be written in first, second, or third person point of view. Writers may enter multiple stories, but only one maximum will be selected. Submissions should be a "stand alone" piece and not part of a larger prose narrative. Performance time limit: 6 minutes.

Timeline:

August 19-Oct. 20, 2024, submission of works.

Last day to submit:  Sunday, October 20, 2024

Notification to writers/poets: The week of October 21-25

Performance date: Friday, November 8, 2024, 6:00-8:30 pm

Submissions will then be reviewed by the selection committee
and invitations will be emailed to all of the participants. If the number of entries exceeds the time frame for the event, some participants will be invited to present their work(s) at our next Lit Fest.
Participants will be notified with festival information on Oct. 25.

 

On Friday, November 8, 2024  6:00-8:30 pm, performance and reception will be held at the Winters Opera House, 13 Main St., Winters, CA 95694.
